50th Medway Towns Cub Scouts

Medway Towns District Scouts, Kent

Cubs is for young people aged between 8 and 10½, they make up the second section of the Scouting family, between Beavers and Scouts.

 

Activities

During their time in the Pack, Cubs will get a chance to try lots of different activities like abseiling, swimming, exploring, computing and collecting.

There is a wide range of badges available which Cubs can wear on their uniforms to show everyone how well they're doing.

Cubs also get to go on trips and days out, and take part in District events with Cubs from other Packs. There will also be plenty of opportunities to go on nights away experiences like camping, indoor sleep overs and Crazy Camping with the rest of the Pack and take part in all kinds of outdoor activities.

 

Structure and organisation

A Pack of Cubs is organised into Sixes, with each Six named after a colour, and with a Sixer and Seconder in charge.

Mondays - 19:00 to 20:30

Falcon Cub Pack
Wednesdays - 19:00 to 20:30

Due to our active programme, we often meet outside of these times as well.

We are extremely pleased to announce that two of our Cubs; Guy and Harvey, have achieved their Chief Scout Silver Awards!

This is the highest award that Cubs can earn, inn order to achieve their awards Guy and Harvey had to complete all seven of the Cub Challenge Awards and six Activity Badges.

We are pleased to announce that due to the number of young people on the Hoo Peninsular wanting to join Scouting we are opening a new Beaver Colony and new Cub Pack!

Ash Beaver Colony will open on Thursday 28th April and run between 5.30pm and 6.45pm and Falcon Cub Pack will open on Wednesday 20th April and run between 7pm and 8.30pm.

On Saturday 14th May over 50 young members and Leaders from all the Group's Sections joined Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Leaders from cross the Medway Towns District at Buckmore Park and members of the worldwide Scouting family for the annual Jamboree on the Trail event JOTT 25.

Jamboree on the Trail is where members of Scout Associatios from all over the world take part in walking events on the same day.

Our Cubs join over 1200 other Cubs from around Kent at Legoland Windsor for the Kent Cub Scouts organised event, Cubs go to Legoland. Despite the heavy rain on arrival, that soon dried up and the sun came out and everyone had a great time.

On Saturday 23rd April all our seections were at Buckmore Park for the Medway Towns District Scouts' St George's Day Service and to celebrate Buckmore Park's 70th birthday.

This was the first large scale event for the District since 2019 with over 800 members and 17 of the District's 20 Groups in attendance!

Our young members got to take part in a wide range of activities like, archery, rifle shooting, tomahawk throwing, laser tag, inflateables and slack-lining. There was also dance and circus shows, falconary displays and birds of prey handling experience, camp fires a cinema and disco.
